Flailing. Kicking. Trying desperately to keep your heads and theirs above water.
So many times as caregivers to dynamic small people, this is our experience. So when Jenna and Kristine each had a son experiencing fits and starts, it was easy to assume everything was normal.
Full-time parenting is hard. It’s a phase. You need to set firmer boundaries.
Finally, Jenna took her 4.5 year old son for a professional assessment in January 2017. He was diagnosed with sensory vulnerabilities and anxiety surrounding new sensory experiences.
That April, Kristine took her son for a professional assessment as well. He has a likely diagnosis of ADHD.
This feeling that the mamas and their boys were working harder than their classmates? Validated.
This is our journey towards intentionally supporting ourselves, our sons, and the rest of our families. Follow along as we use a combination of professional support and personal trial and error to stop flailing and start thriving, one day at a time.
We’re glad you’re here with us.
